What is Crossfit

What is CrossFit?  The textbook definition of CrossFit is that CrossFit is a core strength and conditioning program designed around fundamental movements executed at a high intensity.  Although the previous statement may accurately describe CrossFit, we’d like to expand on that definition.  CrossFit is the best fitness program available.  As previously mentioned, CrossFit’s workouts are based on fundamental movements.  What this means is that the exercises are based on movements that are used in everyday life.  Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or have never worked out, CrossFit is for you.  

Contrary to what many believe, CrossFit is not is a workout program only designed for those in exceptional shape.  CrossFit is for everyone, regardless of fitness background or experience.  Because we base our workouts on foundational movements, every workout and movement is scalable to your needs.  CrossFit is also not like your ordinary “gym”.  Unlike most gyms where you come in by yourself and are left to figure out what exercises you should perform, CrossFit workouts are conducted in a classroom setting where coaches help you through every step of the workout.  Basically, you receive personal training in a group setting.

Whatever your fitness goals are, the coaches at CrossFit Evoke are here draw forth the inner athlete within and help you at every step of the way.

Events
  • Weigh in, measurements, and photos will be offered on Team Saturday May 14th, 2012 at 9am.

 

  • Team Saturday on May 7th, 2012 is going outside the box. Meet up time at the track at 10 am, work out start time at 10:30 am. Make sure to arrive early!! We will not be waiting for people. We will start on time. Make sure to wear your CrossFit Evoke shirts!

 

  • Memorial Day Hero WOD  "MURPH" at CrossFit Evoke at 10 am on May 28th, 2012. You are welcome to bring your friends and family for this event, just make sure you sign up at the front desk for yourself and your guest(s). Post POTLUCK BBQ afterwards.

 

  • CrossFit Fundraising Event "Hope" on Saturday June 9th, 2012. Big Post WOD BBQ and Party afterwards. CrossFit Evoke athletes make sure to participate and register.

""Hope" has the same format as Fight Gone Bad. In this workout, you move from each of five stations after a minute. This is a five minute round which one minute break is allowed beforerepeating. The clock does not reset or stop between exercises. On call of "rotate" the athlete/s must move to the next station immediately for good score. One point is given for each rep."

 

What is Hope? "CrossFit for Hope is the joint effoert between CrossFit and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The goal is to raise 1.7 MM - one day's operating cost for St. Jude - to combat childhood cancer and other deadly diseases. Register to participate or find an athlete or affiliate to sponser and join the fight."

 

Our community will be preparing for this WOD every Friday, so don't forget to mark your calenders and make sure you attend our Friday classes!

CrossFit Evoke has officially opened! Upon request, We'd like to put together a reunion wod. We are excited to reconnect with friends, athletes, and coaches. There were many changes overtime and we all have grown tremendously CrossFitting. From Pr's to starting CrossFit gyms to competing and etc... Let's all catch up and spend some time with each other. 

Thank you for your support and we can't wait to WOD it up with y'all just like good old times.  If someone has not been invited, invite them. We just made this invite quickly so we can get the word out there.
